Science fiction and superhero spectacular Nor-Con – Norfolk’s only TV, film and comic convention – is set to dazzle visitors this October with its range of celebrity guests, cosplayers, exhibitions and merchandise stalls.
Celebrity guests set to attend include Chris Barrie (Arnold Rimmer in Red Dwarf), 80s pop icon Toyah Willcox, Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett in the Star Wars series), and Ian McElhinney (Barristan Selmy in Game of Thrones), who will be signing autographs and providing photo opportunities throughout the weekend.
They’ll be joined by Harry Potter stars Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) and Nick Moran (Scabior), Star Wars stars Garrick Hagon (Biggs Darklighter) and Femi Ogilvy (Oola), along with Anjli Mohindra (Rani Chandra in Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures) and Mark Dexter (Howard Rimmer in Red Dwarf).
There’ll also be cosplayers dressed as everything from Disney princesses to Daleks to offer visitors a truly wonderful experience.
The Nor-Con team work hard to make sure there is something at the convention for everyone – from young families to teenagers and die-hard sci-fi fans – which is just one of the reasons why SciFiNow magazine recently described the event as “probably the friendliest convention on Earth”.
Organiser Mark Dean has been running the event since it began in 2009: “I have always had a passionate interest in science fiction and all things nerdy,” he says. “It feels great to be able to hold an event where so many people that share the same interests can meet up and have an amazing day. There’s an enormous sense of community.”
Alongside all the attractions, the event will also offer a variety of hand-picked food vendors serving everything from local fish and chips, to noodles, a hog roast, crepes and much more.
One thing is for sure, every guest at Nor-Con will enjoy an experience that is truly out of this world.
