Launched last year to a tremendous reception, the Sunday Sessions festival returns for 2019 with a legendary headliner for its two locations in Norwich and Exeter. With a combined audience of 30,000, Sunday Sessions promises to be bigger and better for 2019.
Delivering the very best in indie and alternative music in an idyllic country setting, Sunday Sessions 2019 will be headlined by Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, the acclaimed multi-platinum band led by the iconic songwriter. Over the three critically-acclaimed number one albums released this decade, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have produced a catalogue of memorable singles, including “AKA… What a Life!”, “Everybody’s On The Run” , “In The Heat Of The Moment”, “Ballad Of The Mighty I”, “Holy Mountain” and “It’s A Beautiful World”. The band’s most recent album “Who Built The Moon?” was nominated for the 2018 Hyundai Mercury Prize and won the Q Award for Best Album. A quarter of a century since Oasis released their landmark debut album “Definitely Maybe”, Noel Gallagher remains a vital creative force in British music.
May 26th will see Noel and his band will perform in Norwich for the first time since Oasis played a gig at the Norwich Arts Centre back in 1994. Taking place at Earlham Park, the line-up also includes Razorlight, The Coral, Neon Waltz and October Drift. A month later, on June 30th, Noel will perform in Exeter for the first time in 22 years, when Oasis played the Westpoint Arena in 1997. Performing at Powderham Castle, the line-up will also feature sets from The Charlatans and Reverend & The Makers, plus The Loft Club and hotly-tipped newcomers The Blinders.
Sunday Sessions founders Nick Billinghurst and Matt Smith commented: “We were thrilled when Kaiser Chiefs agreed to headline the inaugural Sunday Sessions last year, and they did the us proud with an absolutely incredible set. To be able to follow that with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds is more than we could have ever hoped for. What a privilege. We’ll see you down the front!”
Sunday Sessions is aimed at the whole family, with entertainment for everyone across three stages. Children can also enjoy free activities including circus workshops with the Bigtopmania Circus, face painting, crafts, a super funfair as well as children’s entertainers.
