Celebrating all things pop and 80s, Let’s Rock is a series of twelve one-day festivals taking place across various venues this summer. Headliners this year include Billy Ocean, Status Quo, Midge Ure, Jason Donovan, Go West, The Human League, Erasure’s Andy Bell, Level 42, Marc Almond, Sister Sledge and Tony Hadley. The event starts at Cookham, Berkshire on May 18 and runs through to Hylands Park in Essex on Sept 7th, taking in locations in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, with different line-ups each of the festivals.
Says Billy Ocean, one of this years headliners, “I genuinely love playing Let’s Rock, the atmosphere is always brilliant. Ten thousand crazy fans singing your songs back to you – what could be better?!”
Let’s Rock organisers Nick Billinghurst and Matt Smith add: “We’re really proud of what we’ve created with Let’s Rock and its such a thrill to work with legends like Billy. As he says, what makes Let’s Rock truly special is our amazingly loyal and up-for-it audience, and every year we strive to improve their experience. Here’s to our best Let’s Rock summer yet!”
In a festival scene dominated by the same names and themes, Let’s Rock offers something different: gloriously unpretentious non-stop fun, where the performers play hit after hit to a crowd of all ages, many of whom embrace the throwback vibe by dressing in their finest 80s fashion. Let’s Rock is very much a family-friendly festival – children can enjoy complimentary activities within the ‘Kids’ Kingdom’ area with an interactive circus, face painting, inflatables and more. For adults, there are multiple bars and a ‘Club Tropicana’ VIP area.
Since launching in 2008 with a solitary festival, Let’s Rock has grown into the UK’s biggest retro festival series. Moreover, in a crowded festival market, Let’s Rock has managed continuous growth: 2019 is their biggest year yet in terms of audience and locations, with new sites in Wales, Belfast, Essex and Liverpool. Let’s Rock works with various charities, including Child Bereavement UK, The Wooden Spoon, and The Link Foundation, as well as many local charities. To date, Let’s Rock has raised almost half a million pounds for children’s charities.
